Building Permits

Anyone wishing to erect a new building of any kind, or who wishes to add to an existing building, within the Aberdeen city limits that costs more than $500.00 needs to file a building permit with Aberdeen City Hall. Residents should also check with city officials before building, installing, adding to or remodeling any kind of permanent structures (ie. fences, sheds, greenhouses, etc.) to be sure that they are in accordance with the city's set back and zoning ordinances.

Any questions regarding building permits should be directed to the City Clerk during regular business hours as indicated on the City of Aberdeen's Contact Information Web Page.


Building permit Requirements
1. Each permit should have a diagram attached on a piece of graphing paper. If possible it should be made to scale. Make sure all street names are also included on the diagram.
2. Each permit needs to have a copy of the house plan with the basement or footing plans attached.
3. If the lots do not have survey markers it will need to have a surveyor's signature on the permit.
4. If the building permit is for a manufactured home it is to have a complete copy of the set up plans by the manufacture along with exactly how it is going to be set up; this includes all footing or basement plans.
5. The building Inspector must sign all permits.
6. The Public Works Director msut sign all permits.
7. Bring the completed building permit back to City Hall.
8. Building permit fees are assessed as indicated in the Idaho Building Code manual.
9. Water connections costs $1,000.00 for a 3/4 inch meter. The difference in cost for a meter larger than 3/4 inches must be paid by the individual.
10. Sewer connections cost $675.00.
